Description
Apply interior or exterior plaster, cement, stucco, or similar materials. May also set ornamental plaster.
Experience
A minimum of two to four years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations. For example, an accountant must complete four years of college and work for several years in accounting to be considered qualified.
Education
Most of these occupations require a four-year bachelor's degree, but some do not.
Training
Employees in these occupations usually need several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.
Tasks
- Directs workers to mix plaster to desired consistency and to erect scaffolds.
- Applies weatherproof, decorative covering to exterior surfaces of building.
- Creates decorative textures in finish coat, using sand, pebbles, or stones.
- Applies coats of plaster or stucco to walls, ceilings, or partitions of buildings, using trowel, brush, or spray gun.
- Mixes mortar to desired consistency and puts up scaffolds.
- Molds and installs ornamental plaster pieces, panels, and trim.
- Installs guidewires on exterior surface of buildings to indicate thickness of plaster or stucco.
