Description
Lay out, assemble, install, and test aircraft systems, such as armament, environmental control, plumbing, and hydraulic.
Experience
Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.

Tasks
- Reads and interprets blueprints, illustrations, and specifications to determine layout, sequence of operations, or identity and relationship of parts.
- Aligns, fits, and assembles system components, such as armament, structural, and mechanical components, using jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments, hand tools, and power tools.
- Assembles and installs parts, fittings, and assemblies on aircraft, using layout tools, hand tools, power tools, and fasteners.
- Reworks, replaces, realigns, and adjusts parts and assemblies according to specifications.
- Cleans, oils, assembles, and attaches system components to aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Examines parts for defects and for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
- Tests systems and assemblies for functional performance, and adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning units or parts.
- Installs mechanical linkages and actuators, and verifies tension of cables, using tensiometer.
- Lays out location of parts and assemblies, according to specifications.
- Measures, drills, files, cuts, bends, and smoothes materials to ensure fit and clearance of parts.
