Description
Etch or cut artistic designs in glass articles, using acid solutions, sandblasting equipment, and design patterns.
Experience
Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
Education

Tasks
- Positions pattern against waxed or taped ware and sprays ink through pattern to transfer design to wax or tape.
- Coats glass in molten wax or masks glassware with tape.
- Immerses ware in hot water to remove wax or peels off tape.
- Removes wax or tape, using stylus or knife, to expose glassware surface to be etched.
- Sandblasts exposed area of glass, using spray gun, to cut design in surface.
- Immerses waxed ware in hydrofluoric acid to etch design on glass surface.
