Description
Perform variety of routine tasks to assist in production activities.
Experience
No previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations. For example, a person can become a general office clerk even if he/she has never worked in an office before.
Education
These occupations may require a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some may require a formal training course to obtain a license.
Training
Employees in these occupations need anywhere from a few days to a few months of training. Usually, an experienced worker could show you how to do the job.
Tasks
- Attaches slings, ropes, cables, or identification tags to objects, such as pipes, hoses, and bundles.
- Loads and unloads items from machines, conveyors, and conveyance.
- Records information, such as number of product tested, meter readings, and date and time product placed in oven.
- Carries or hand-trucks supplies to workstations.
- Breaks up defective products for reprocessing.
- Inserts parts into partial assembly during various stages of assembly to complete product.
- Folds parts of product and final product during processing.
- Feeds item into processing machine.
- Separates product according to weight, grade, size, and composition of material used to produce product.
- Examines product to verify conformance to company standards.
- Weighs raw materials for distribution.
- Cuts or breaks flashing from materials or products.
- Washes machines, equipment, vehicles, and products, such as prints, rugs, and table linens.
- Counts finished product to determine completion of production order.
- Threads ends of items, such as thread, cloth, and lace, through needles, rollers, and around takeup tube.
- Ties product in bundles for further processing or shipment, following prescribed procedure.
- Places product in equipment or on work surface for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.
- Mixes ingredients, according to formula.
- Lifts raw materials, final products, and items packed for shipment, manually, or using hoist.
- Positions spout or chute of storage bin to fill containers during processing.
