Description
Perform variety of tasks requiring limited knowledge of production processes in support of skilled production workers.
Experience
No previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations. For example, a person can become a general office clerk even if he/she has never worked in an office before.
Education
These occupations may require a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some may require a formal training course to obtain a license.
Training
Employees in these occupations need anywhere from a few days to a few months of training. Usually, an experienced worker could show you how to do the job.
Tasks
- Reads gauges and charts and records data.
- Observes operation and notifies equipment operator of malfunctions.
- Marks or tags identification on parts.
- Mixes ingredients, according to procedure.
- Measures amount of ingredients, length of extruded article, or work to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Cleans and lubricates equipment.
- Places or positions equipment or partially assembled product for further processing, manually or using hoist.
- Removes product, machine attachments, and waste material from machine.
- Starts machines or equipment to begin process.
- Replaces damaged or worn equipment parts.
- Signals coworkers to facilitate moving product during processing.
- Tends equipment to facilitate process.
- Loads and unloads processing equipment or conveyance used to receive raw materials or to ship finished products.
- Dumps materials into machine hopper prior to mixing.
- Turns valves to regulate flow of liquids or air, to reverse machine, to start pump, and to regulate equipment.
