Description
Park automobiles or issue tickets for customers in a parking lot or garage. May collect fee.
Experience
No previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations. For example, a person can become a general office clerk even if he/she has never worked in an office before.
Education
These occupations may require a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some may require a formal training course to obtain a license.
Training

Tasks
- Places numbered tag on windshield of automobile to be parked, and hands customer similar tag to be used in locating parked automobile.
- Takes numbered tag from customer, locates car, and delivers it to customer, or directs customer to parked car.
- Services cars in storage to protect tires, battery, and finish against deterioration.
- Patrols area to prevent thefts of parked automobiles or items in automobiles.
- Keeps new car lot in order and maximizes use of space.
- Services vehicles with gas, oil, and water.
- Parks automobiles in parking lot, storage garage, or new car lot.
- Lifts, positions, and removes barricades to open or close parking areas.
- Inspects vehicles to detect damage.
- Signals or directs vehicle drivers to parking area, using hands or flashlight.
- Collects parking fee from customer, based on charges for time automobile is parked.
