We are very glad you are applying to Loyola Marymount University and are pleased you're using our online application. You will find it easy to use, with lots of help and guidance available throughout. This first screen provides introductory information and instructions. Please read them carefully. Following the application itself are the final instructions and forms to print out.
Loyola Marymount University welcomes applications from qualified students. The university selects and administers all of its programs without discrimination as to race, color, sex, creed, national origin, or non-disqualifying handicap. Beyond meeting fully our obligations of nondiscrimination under federal and state law, Loyola Marymount University is committed in mission and philosophy by our Jesuit and Marymount traditions to establish a community of tolerance and respect that welcomes and embraces people of all backgrounds, without regard to differences in economic status, ethnic background, political views, religious beliefs, or other personal characteristics.
Loyola Marymount is a Catholic University in the Jesuit/Marymount tradition of academic excellence, education of the whole person, sensitivity to values, appreciation of cultural diversity, and career preparation for today's world.
The university offers 85 majors and programs through five colleges: Science and Engineering, Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Film and Television, and Communication and Fine Arts. Though nationally respected as a comprehensive university, LMU has retained the spirit, the small class sizes and personal support typically associated with a small college.

Let Others Tell Us More About You!
Arrange for a letter of recommendation from a teacher or a counselor to be completed and returned to LMU.
No special form is required; a letter on school letterhead is sufficient.
Freshman applicants should also arrange for the
secondary school report to be sent from your counselor.
One or two additional recommendations are welcome, but not required.
In addition to the pertinent freshman or transfer application materials described above, students who are neither citizens nor legal residents of the United States must also submit the following:
Loyola Marymount University will not issue the Immigration Form I-20 until all required information has been received, the student has been admitted and the commitment deposit has been received.
Applicants to the Animation program must also include with your application a portfolio consisting of 10-15 samples of your artwork. Portfolios may include life drawings (human and animal figures), cartoons, sketches, illustrations, flip books, photographs, paintings, or other visual materials. Slides, photocopies, or CDs are acceptable. See film.lmu.edu/animation for more details.
Applications for admission are reviewed on a rolling basis. This means that your application will be evaluated as soon as all required documents have been received. Written notification of your eligibility for admission will be sent as soon as a decision has been reached and normally no later than April 15 for fall freshmen who apply by January 15. Admitted students are required to submit final transcripts to verify that all work in progress is successfully completed. In the event that the final semester of work does not meet required criteria, acceptance may be rescinded.
LMU encourages first-time freshmen to live in university housing because it enriches their educational experience. However, students are not required to live on campus at any time during their LMU career. For fall enrollment, university housing is guaranteed to first-time freshmen, provided their commitment deposits are postmarked by May 1. Housing requests from fall transfer students and from all spring applicants are processed on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis.
