Introduction

Please read this important information:
PAIS is designed to allow students to estimate their financial aid eligibility information. The figures provided in this calculator are preliminary estimates and should not be taken as an official indication of financial aid eligibility.

What is PAIS?
The Preliminary Aid Information System (PAIS) is designed to allow students to estimate student financial aid eligibility information through an easy to use electronic system. By completing this worksheet, you will receive information about your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), and estimated eligibility for grants and loans to attend National University. It is important to know that there may be other aid programs for which you are eligible. Also, there are circumstances that could cause your eligibility to change substantially, such as your actual assets.

PAIS is NOT an actual financial aid application
The use of PAIS does not constitute an actual application for financial aid. To receive an official award of financial aid from National University, you MUST complete the application process beginning with the submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is also available from National University financial aid advisors, and must be completed and mailed after January 1, 2007, for you to be considered for all aid programs for the 2007-2008 academic year. Eligibility for some aid programs is contingent upon meeting a specified deadline.

Eligibility for financial aid
Eligibility for financial aid is determined by the amount that remains after your Expected Family Contribution is subtracted from the cost of attendance. The cost of attendance is the amount that the University estimates you will spend to attend college for the academic year. The cost of attendance includes books, living allowance, loan fees, and tuition. Living allowances will vary depending whether or not you live with parents or on your own.

What will this program do?
Once you have entered your response to the last question, this program will tell you the estimated Expected Family Contribution and the likely amounts of grants and/or loans you may receive. (Financial aid eligibility criteria are subject to legislative changes that may affect the estimate provided.)
