UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Southwestern Adventist offers degrees based on personalized instruction, solid academics and hands-on experiential learning. The principal emphasis of the university is the liberal arts and sciences part of many professional and pre-professional programs. A general education component -- nearly half of all the hours students take in any degree program are in humanities, science, physical education, philosophy and ethics -- brings balance to all programs, enriching the intellectual and cultural experiences of students beyond the limits set by specific majors. SWAU has excellent pre-professional programs in medicine, dentistry, and physical therapy. Biology, business, elementary and secondary education, nursing, and theology are good examples of some of SWAU's professional programs.
