CAMPUS SUMMARY
Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) is a comprehensive community college that is serving approximately 3,200 students in its credit courses and programs and 8,000 students in its continuing education courses and programs per year. The College's programs include over 30 career credit programs, six transfer credit programs, and a comprehensive selection of continuing education programs.


UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
In Fall 2001, the College opened an off-campus location in leased space located in the Gateway Center on the Downtown Cumberland Mall. The location offers complete program coursework in culinary arts and hospitality management and “hands-on” training in a full-service student operated cafeteria/café.

Allegany College of Maryland has achieved a national reputation for excellence in men’s baseball and basketball. Allegany College of Maryland’s athletic program is well represented in the Maryland JUCO Conference, Region XX, and the National Junior College Athletic Association. The women’s basketball team went to the national tournament in 1986. Men’s baseball has represented Region XX in the National Junior College World Series seven times. NJCAA Hall of Famer, Steve Bazarnic, has led his teams to 29 straight winning seasons and has placed several players in the major leagues. The men’s basketball team is also led by an NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach, Bob Kirk. Coach Kirk has led his team to victory 869 times in 31 years. Allegany has won 15 Region XX and 21 Maryland JUCO Conference Championships. They have participated in 11 National Junior College Division I Championships at Hutchinson, Kansas, playing in the championship game in 1996 & 2001. Allegany’s basketball program is recognized for it’s ability to graduate their student-athletes and send them on to Division I program’s. Allegany, in 2000-2001, graduated all eight sophomores (all going to Division I). Over the last three years all 15 sophomores have graduated and received Division I scholarships. In addition to this, three players have been first round draft picks in the NBA with the most recent, Steve Francis, being picked as co-rookie of the year and being named the NBA All-Star team. Since 1975 Allegany has continually been ranked in the Top 20 among Division I junior colleges. Allegany’s highest ranking in the final poll was in 1997 being ranked #1.
