UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Nazareth College offers more than 40 majors and minors; many provide opportunities for internships to supplement classroom work.

The undergraduate curriculum centers on the basic disciplines of liberal study with courses in the humanities, the natural and social sciences and the fine arts. Selected career programs, preparatory to graduate study and the work force, reflect the college’s traditional emphasis on personal achievement and fulfillment as well as service to others. Nazareth College offers major programs designed to prepare students for the human service occupations in fields of work, nursing and music therapy. The social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. An upper-level baccalaureate program in nursing, for registered nurses only, is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The music therapy program is approved by the American Music Therapy Association. Other professional programs include speech pathology and the accounting programs. Qualified students, with the joint approval of the major department, may choose a program of studies that leads to eligibility for provisional New York State teacher certification. In fall 1996 Nazareth began offering a five-year program leading to degrees of BS in health science and MS in physical therapy.

Through the international studies major, the modern foreign language major programs, the international business and economic courses, Nazareth encourages a global awareness among its students. The college also offers its own study abroad programs in Rennes, France, Valencia, Spain, and Pescara, Italy as well as experiences in Australia and Japan.

In addition, the college offers a Master of Science degree in art therapy (accredited by the American Art Therapy Association Inc.), Management, gerontological nurse practitioner (accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) and speech language pathology (accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
