ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Heart of Georgia Technical College's (HGTC), admissions policies and procedures are in accordance with those of the Technical College System of Georgia, (TCSG), and will be followed in the admission of all students.

Applicants for admission must be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Some programs require applicants to be seventeen (17) years of age or older. A General Education Development (GED) certificate with passing scores noted or a high school transcript verifying graduation from an accredited high school will be required for admission to the college unless otherwise specified by program standards.

Admission Procedures

To apply for admission to Heart of Georgia Technical College credit programs, applicants must complete the following steps:

1. Complete and submit an Application for Admission and one-time non-refundable $15 application fee.

2. Have an official high school transcript verifying graduation sent from the high school or submit official GED score report or transcript with passing scores. A faxed high school transcript may be used for acceptance. However, an official transcript needs to be sent for the student’s record.

Note: Some programs do not require proof of high school graduation or GED completion for admission. Please refer to the catalog program section for details on each program’s admission requirements.

3. For high school students who are dual or joint enrolled, official copies of the student's high school transcript verifying graduation must be on file in Admissions in order to graduate from a program of study.

4. Request all postsecondary colleges/universities send an official transcript(s) to the Admissions Office. Faxed college transcripts can be used for acceptance but will not be used for transferring of credit. Acceptance will not be granted until the Admissions Office has reviewed the transcript of the most recently attended college to determine student standing.

5. Take the required placement test or submit acceptable scores from one of the following:

ASSET, ACT, COMPASS, CPE, or SAT. All scores are considered valid if taken within the past (5) years. Documentation of a bachelor’s degree or higher or a transcript documenting completion of program-level math and English coursework with a grade of “C” or better from an accredited postsecondary institution may be used in lieu of testing.

6. Students with a disability that may affect their testing conditions should submit a request for accommodations form available from the Special Needs Facilitator or Career Services Office prior to the time placement testing is scheduled.
