CAMPUS SUMMARY
Sullivan County Community College is a small, two-year college of the State University of New York (SUNY), fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In the fall of 1963 Sullivan opened its doors to 72 full-time freshmen and 119 part-time students and has grown to a full-time and part-time enrollment of approximately 2,000 students. The college provides a wide range of higher education services and opportunities to all who choose to study at the college. Broad ranges of career-oriented and transfer programs with a strong liberal arts core, continuing education, community service and cultural offerings for the general public, developmental opportunities for the educationally disadvantaged, programs that reach out to the non-traditional student, and a variety of student support services are the college’s commitment to the population it serves.

The college is situated on 405 scenic acres in Sullivan County, located in the foothills of the New York Catskill Mountains, only two hours from New York City. Because of the close proximity to New York City, approximately 40 percent of the college’s student population come from the New York metropolitan area. Sullivan County is an area of great natural beauty, with about 85% of its land classified as woodlands, wetlands or water. Tens of thousands of acres of publicly owned, accessible parkland is available to hikers, bikers, cross-country skiers, horseback riders, and campers. Canoeing, rafting, kayaking, golfing, and outlet and antique shopping are favorites of the many tourists that visit our area. The more adventurous can take flying and/or soaring lessons at one of three local airports.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Sullivan has 36 career-oriented and college transfer programs of study. Pursue your Associate’s degree (concentrations in Arts, Science, Applied Science, or Occupational Science) or enroll in one of seven certificate programs. Our classrooms are small and personal and students receive attention from a dedicated, accessible faculty. The college’s Honors Program, open to talented and highly motivated students, offers a demanding and rewarding academic program. Honors students participate in special small Honors classes, often working individually with faculty at an advanced level. All students enjoy special cultural and social activities, and there are many different scholarships available.
