CAMPUS SUMMARY
Paul Smith’s is a private college offering two- and four-year degrees, all undergraduate. It was founded in 1948 on the site of Paul Smith’s Resort, which first opened in 1858. The 14,200-acre campus includes forests, lakes, classroom buildings, and a hotel-and-restaurant complex. Paul Smith’s College is located in the Adirondack Park of New York State. Nearby are the resort villages of Saranac Lake (rated the #1 small town in New York State) and Lake Placid (site of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games and home to the U.S. Olympic Training Center). Burlington, Vermont, and Montreal, Quebec, are both less than two hours away. Students who enjoy the outdoors would be hard-pressed to find a college campus with more opportunities for recreation. In addition to the six-million-acre park in which the campus is located, indoor facilities include a pool, workout room, rock climbing wall, and gym. There are a variety of clubs, special events, and intramural leagues. Intercollegiate athletic teams compete in men’s and women’s soccer, basketball, ice hockey, and alpine skiing.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
For more than 50 years, Paul Smith’s College has been an established resource of the six-million-acre Adirondack Park community. The college creates and supports strategies to promote ecosystem-wide habitat protection along with sustainable forestry practices and viable tourism and hospitality industry initiatives.
