CAMPUS SUMMARY
Southern Utah University is a public regional university which has emphasized superior teaching since 1887. The University was founded through great sacrifice of the community with the objective of becoming a premier center for training teachers. That mission remains strong today as SUU is the second leading producer of teachers within the state's system of higher education. The 133-acre campus in the heart of Cedar City is in the middle of some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth. Just a short drive from several national parks and monuments like Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, and the Grand Staircase - Escalante, as well as a number of wilderness areas and national forests, there are unlimited outdoor adventures surrounding the school. The location offers four distinct seasons and easy access to ski resorts, golf courses, miles of mountain bike trails; as well as an Olympic-sized swimming pool on campus.
