CAMPUS SUMMARY
The mission of the Hartford Conservatory is to help people pursue their dreams in the performing arts.

The main campus is located close to downtown Hartford in the historic center of Asylum Hill, former home to Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe. The Diploma Program dance studio is off-site in a separate building, near the main campus. The Asylum Hill campus includes classroom space, a dance studio, recording arts production studios, a piano lab, a music library, a computer lab, practice rooms, listening areas, student lounge and administrative offices.

We are committed to serving the needs of those studying the performing arts—in our own neighborhood, the City of Hartford, throughout Greater Hartford and beyond.

Our Diploma Program attracts students from throughout the United States. We welcome students from many different racial, social, and economic backgrounds.

We are also committed to giving back to the community by providing excellent performing arts instruction to those who may not have the financial resources to cover all the costs.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The Diploma Program Philosophy

The Hartford Conservatory Diploma Program provides concentrated post-secondary performing arts training for students who have a serious interest in becoming performers, teachers and/or recording engineers and artists. Through an application and audition process, we accept students with potential for success and a passion to pursue their dreams.

This two or three-year performing arts immersion program is designed to meet the needs of people preparing for careers or for further study in dance, music, musical theater, or in the recording and piano technology industries. The major areas of study are: Dance Performance, Dance Teaching Methods, Music Performance, Music Teaching Methods, Musical Theater, Piano Technology and Recording Arts. Classes in technique, theory and performance provide a firm foundation in each discipline. The curriculum is designed with the following objectives:

To provide students with the opportunity to discover and develop their talents

To provide students with thorough technical and professional training within a specific major

To prepare students for career entrance into their chosen field and/or for further education

To offer students the opportunity to thoroughly immerse themselves in their chosen art form

The Hartford Conservatory does not guarantee job placement or employment as a result of a student’s successful completion of the Diploma Program, but will assist students in discovering career choices in the performing arts profession.
