CAMPUS SUMMARY
Pikeville College is located in southeastern Kentucky. The college was founded in 1889 by the Presbyterian Church. Pikeville has continued to evolve throughout the years, continually changing its curricula to meet the changing needs of Appalachia. The college is dedicated to providing a quality education for students in the central Appalachian region. Pikeville College is approximately 30 miles from Jenny Wiley State Park and The Breaks State Park.


UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
Pikeville College is an open admissions school, which means the college accepts all students who apply for admission. The curriculum rests on a broad liberal arts and sciences foundation, and programs, courses, and activities for career and professional education geared to regional and national needs. Pikeville offers majors in the following areas: art, biology, business, chemistry, computer science, education, English, history, history/political science, human services, mathematics, medical technology, nursing, psychology, religion, and social sciences. In addition, the college offers pre-professional programs in dentistry, engineering, law, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy and veterinary medicine. In 1997, the college established the Pikeville College School of Ostepathic Medicine to help meet the needs of the area for family doctors.
