CAMPUS SUMMARY
The New York School of Interior Design campus occupies two buildings in the Upper East Side Historic District. The college has a first-rate physical plant with light-filled studios, a new lighting laboratory, a centralized computer facility for computer-aided design (CAD), a large atelier for independent work furnished with drafting tables, storage shelves for student work and a materials collection for use in projects, a lecture hall and seminar rooms, and a well-stocked bookstore as well as a handsome auditorium designed by noted hospitality designer Sarah Tomerlin Lee.


UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The library, with more than 6,500 books, periodicals and indexes, covers every aspect of international art, design, decorative arts, architecture, professional practice, and related subjects and houses a materials collection of current trade catalogs and manufacturers’ samples. There is access to the Internet and other electronic resources. NYSID is part of a cooperative arrangement with New York University and the New School University, which gives students and faculty reciprocal access to the 2.6 million volumes of NYU’s Bobst Library and the 54,000-volume Gimbel Library at Parsons School of Design. NYSID is also a member of the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO), a consortium of more than 300 regional libraries.
