CAMPUS SUMMARY
Russell Sage College is located along the Hudson River in Historic Troy, New York, a city of 57,000. Albany, the capital of New York State, is 10 minutes away. The cities of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy constitute a metropolitan area of more than 500,000. Troy is located near the hub of air, bus, rail, and superhighway transportation and is three hours from Boston, New York City, and Montreal. The unique urban campus environment has formal courtyards, walled gardens, and flowering shrubs. Beautiful Victorian Era buildings contrast with modern structure; together they make up the academic residential facilities. The location of the college in upstate New York allows for the enjoyment of all fours seasons. Russell Sage College was founded in 1916 and is a private, four-year college for women offering liberal arts and professional degrees. Russell Sage College is one of The Sage Colleges, a federation of four educational institutions that also includes Sage Junior College of Albany, Sage Evening College, and Sage Graduate School. The mission of the college is to provide a unique academic community where individuals count and are consistently challenged to develop their strengths, self-confidence, leadership skills, and originality. Russell Sage College offers Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, interdisciplinary programs, and accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs in twenty-seven major areas of study. The largest enrollments are in Physical and Occupational Therapy (BS/MS), Nursing, Psychology, Creative Arts in Therapy, and Communications. The college has more than 110 full-time faculty members. Most hold an earned doctorate or the highest degree in their field. The student-faculty ratio of 12:1 and an average class size of approximately 18 students enable faculty members to give personal attention to students’ academic and career interests. Campus facilities include specialized computer laboratories, The Allies Center, campus library, bookstore, dining hall and café, athletic facilities, classroom buildings, historic brownstone residence halls, Schacht’s Fine Arts Center, an auditorium, and a student center. The academic calendar has two semesters (September – December; January – April).
