CAMPUS SUMMARY
Founded in 1841, Manhattanville College is an independent, co-educational liberal arts college serving a diverse population of more than 1,200 full-time undergraduate and 1,000 part-time graduate students. Nondenominational since 1971, the foundation of Manhattanville’s educational approach is a set of four core values: academic excellence, developing the whole person – mind, body and spirit – building a nurturing environment, and contributing to society. The commitment to these values extends to every student within the Manhattanville community.

Manhattanville College is set on 100 beautiful acres in Westchester County, New York, and is just 28 miles away from New York City. Through organized trips and academic coursework, students are encouraged to explore New York City’s cultural resources and career opportunities. Westchester County also provides plenty of internship and career prospects, all within minutes of campus.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
All students begin their Manhattanville education by taking the college’s unique Freshman Preceptorial, a two-semester interdisciplinary seminar that prepares students for the liberal arts experience. In the Preceptorial, students learn to write and to think at the college level under the direction of an academic advisor.

Manhattanville also has the oldest college-wide Portfolio System in the country. The portfolio, which ultimately reflects a student’s entire college career, is both a system of planning and assessment. With the guidance of a faculty advisor, each student structures a study plan, and then gathers his or her best work into a portfolio that provides graduate schools and employers with a summary of the student’s academic experience.
