| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
Skidmore College is an independent, coeducational, non-sectarian, residential liberal-arts college of approximately 2,150 students located in historic Saratoga Springs, NY. Since its founding in 1903, Skidmore has linked theoretical and applied learning. Today Skidmore offers more than 65 academic programs and a curriculum that balances a commitment to the liberal arts and sciences with preparation for professions, careers, and community leadership.
Having relocated from the center of Saratoga Springs in the 1960’s and 70’s, Skidmore’s modern facilities are set today on a wooded campus of 850 acres at the northwest edge of the city. Saratoga, known for its revolutionary war battlefield, its horse racing, its mineral water springs, and its arts, combines historical charm with modern culture and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the summer home of the New York City Ballet and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Located halfway between the state capital of Albany and the Lake George region of the Adirondack Mountains, Saratoga offers a wonderful balance between urban sophistication and unmatched natural beauty. |

| UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS |
 |
Like other highly selective liberal arts colleges, Skidmore offers an excellent education in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences. What sets Skidmore apart is its integration of the liberal arts with opportunities for intensive study in more career-specific fields such as the fine and performing arts, business, education, and social work. Students choose from an array of 65 academic programs and have the flexibility to combine programs of interest or even design their own major. At the center of the academic program is Skidmore’s distinctive Liberal Studies Curriculum – a highly interdisciplinary set of courses that emphasizes the integration of different modes of learning with the exploration of a broad range of perspectives, including the humanities, the natural and social sciences, the arts, world cultures, and foreign languages. To support these goals, students obtain a solid foundation in expository writing, quantitative reasoning, and information technologies.
Skidmore also offers graduate degree programs and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies for adult students through its University Without Walls program. |
