CAMPUS SUMMARY
Houghton College is a four-year undergraduate Christian liberal arts college founded in 1883 and sponsored by the Wesleyan Church. Houghton is a community of 1200 talented Christian students representing 40 denominations who come from 40 states and 27 foreign countries. Houghton College seeks to provide an academically challenging Christ-centered education in the liberal arts and sciences to students from diverse traditions and economic backgrounds, and to equip them to lead and labor as scholar-servants in a changing world. All of Houghton’s campus is unified architecturally by natural fieldstone native to the area. Modern classroom buildings, laboratories, physical education resources, and 1300 seat chapel auditorium support the life of the campus. Of our 32 buildings, the newest is the Center for the Arts, and is appointed with the most up-to-date facilities for our music program. Located in the picturesque Genesee River valley of western New York, Houghton is only 65 miles south of Rochester and Buffalo, near noted state parks and popular winter ski resorts. Less than two hours away is world-famous Niagara Falls.
