CAMPUS SUMMARY
New York Institute of Technology is an independent senior institution of higher learning. Multi-accredited, nonsectarian and nonprofit, it operates year-round and provides career education, undergraduate, and graduate, for men and women of all ages and from all walks of life. Programs lead to associate's, bachelor's, master's, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees.

Initial enrollment in NYIT's first class in 1955 was nine students; by 1977 expanded to include the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. The college now educates over 10,000 students in credit-bearing programs. NYIT maintains three campuses - Old Westbury, Manhattan, and Central Islip - offering courses in traditional and accelerated formats in day, evening, weekend, and distance learning sessions. The mission of New York Institute of Technology is based upon fundamental principles that include career-oriented education, access to opportunity, applications-oriented research, and service in public interest. Committed to excellence in teaching, NYIT's primary goal is to prepare students to succeed in their chosen fields through its career-oriented schools.
