| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
The educational goals of NYCI are to prepare students for productive and satisfying careers. To accomplish this, the school seeks to teach fundamental principles, which are applicable "on the job." This is done through careful balance of teaching theory with practical application. To prepare students for their careers, our faculty is composed of instructors, practicing court reporters, attorneys, judges, and other professionals with a wide array of academic professional skills. To broaden student's educational and practical experience, NYCI coordinates mock trials; internship programs and uses the latest computer equipment.
New York Career Institute, founded in 1942, was granted authority in 1982 by the New York State Board of Regents to confer an Associate in Occupational Studies (AOS) degree as well as a Certificate in Court Reporting. The school is also authorized by the NYS Board of Regents to confer AOS degrees and certificates in Paralegal Studies and Office Sciences. The school, consisting of 20 modern air conditioned classrooms, a library, three student lounges, and administrative offices, occupies 27,500 square feet of space. It is a multi-elevator, handicap accessible building with a fully attended lobby which is located in lower Manhattan, opposite City Hall park, and surrounded by Federal and State Courts, Pace University, BMCC, NY Law School, the Trade Center and the New York and American Stock Exchanges. The Institute is easily accessible to subways, express and local buses, Path and major transportation systems. |
