CAMPUS SUMMARY
New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) is the largest Christian seminary in New York State. NYTS is also the only seminary in the nation whose essential purpose is to train and motivate clergy and laity to respond to the spiritual, social and economic crises confronting the inner city.

Founded in 1900, NYTS is an interdenominational seminary, which provides theological education through a variety of fully accredited graduate degree and continuing education programs. The seminary s most important partners in the task of theological education are local congregations, which play the primary role in Christian witness and urban ministry.

UNIQUE/SPECIAL PROGRAMS
The seminary s student body is about 45 percent African-American, 20 percent Hispanic, 20 percent Asian, and 15 percent White. Over 40 different denominations and traditions are represented each year. Students may earn a Certificate in Ministry, a Master of Divinity, Master of Professional Studies or the Doctor of Ministry degree. In addition, NYTS extends graduate theological training to inmates throughout the New York State penal system at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York.
