| CAMPUS SUMMARY |
 |
Recognized as one of the nation’s premier academic institutions, Davidson College is distinguished by its commitment to offer an undergraduate liberal arts education of the highest quality. Founded in 1837, Davidson’s mission is clear: to assist students in developing humane instincts and disciplined and creative minds for lives of leadership and service. This is accomplished within a community of learners and teachers, joined in a vital partnership and engaged in a continuing examination of knowledge, truth, and faith. Davidson is respected for a tradition of intellectual vigor, a committed faculty of accomplished teacher-scholars, engaged and resourceful students, and a distinctive record of alumni achievement.
Davidson is among a select group of colleges fortunate to have the strongest record of CASE teacher-of-the-year winners, and has twenty-three Rhodes Scholars among its graduates, most recently Christian Hunt in 2000. The college has maintained its traditional Honor Code, a reflection of the mutual respect that binds together the campus community. The athletic program allows gifted scholar athletes to compete at the level of NCAA Division I. At the heart of Davidson College lies service, demonstrated by both alumni and students through a commitment to leadership in community and international affairs. |
